Craniosacral Therapy is a gentle but profound hands-on therapy suitable for babies, children, elderly and those who are experiencing fragile or acutely painful conditions.

People come for Craniosacral Therapy as part of their recovery from trauma, injury, stress or to support their general wellbeing, health, sleep and reconnect with the body's ability to heal.
People choose Craniosacral therapy to help with shock and trauma, both physical and emotional, headaches, migraines, insomnia, back and neck pain, stress and anxiety, post dental treatment, chronic fatigue, ME, Fibromyalgia, long Covid and post surgery.

Mothers and babies are often advised to visit a craniosacral therapist following a difficult or traumatic birth. It has been seen that such therapy can help with colic, sucking issues and irritability. Craniosacral therapy is a wonderful and gentle therapy that can support a mother throughout her pregnancy and prepare her for labour.

The foundation of this therapy and the recognition of subtle rhythms in the body was discovered over 100 years ago by Osteopath Dr William Sutherland. He observed the articulation of cranial bones and the sutures ability to express motion. He called this inherent life force the Breath of Life . These subtle rhythms can be palpated by sensitive hands and identify inertia and congestion in the body and follow the body's natural priority for healing

I’ve been working as a Massage Therapist for over 25 years.

My career as a therapist naturally evolved. In 1991 I began my training with a 3 - year combined hairdressing and beauty therapy course, which included the additional training of stage and character make-up and wig making. However, during this time I became truly inspired by the massage element of the course. I found the human body fascinating and was interested to learn how I could help people through massage.

Upon completing my training, I worked as a beauty therapist at Champney’s of Tring in Hertfordshire. I then went on to work for them on a state of the art P&O cruise ship at the time, called the Oriana, and travelled the world.

Over the years I have constantly been developing my skills in the art of massage. I still find it fascinating and I never stop learning.

I recently graduated from Bournemouth University with a BSc Hons in Sports Therapy.

I was a dancer and gymnast from a young age and I took an interest in the power of sports injury rehabilitation after attending sports and physiotherapy appointments for a series of injuries.

While studying at Bournemouth, I gained my work experience with the university sports teams and in a local clinic and I immediately knew I wanted to be in the clinical line of work as a graduate. I love building connections with patients and being able to offer a range of treatments while creating a positive and motivating environment.

At the Heeler Centre, I offer sports therapy, sports massage and taping for injury prevention, treatment and rehabilitation. You can book appointments with me on Tuesday, & Thursday afternoons, and Friday & Saturday mornings

In my previous job I was lucky enough to travel all over the world as an air stewardess. I then retrained to become a commercial airline pilot travelling regularly to the Far East and Hong Kong.

While in that part of the world I’d walk past the Chinese medicine clinics and wonder about them. It seemed so esoteric and intriguing that after I had my children I stayed at home with them until they went to school and retrained as an acupuncturist.

My job is my passion, I absolutely love helping people using acupuncture, its such a rewarding profession you literally change peoples lives.

Julie Marshall Podiatry Bsc HCPC registered podiatrist

Julie has lived in Brighton since 1989. She spent her early adult life combining travelling and working in hotel and catering before embarking in Podiatry Bsc at Brighton University qualifying in 2001.

She has worked in the NHS since 2002 initially in Surrey Hampshire borders and now in Brighton.

How long have you worked at The Heeler Centre?

I joined the Heeler Centre in 2023.

Why did you choose your profession?

I always knew that I wanted to work in a caring healthcare profession. I’ve always been a very hands-on practical person and was really drawn to podiatry.

What do you enjoy most about your work?

I absolutely love what I do; podiatry is such a rewarding profession; I love helping people manage their foot problems and relieving their pain. I also love the social aspect of getting to know the people that I help.

What are your specialisms?

I love providing routine care; managing skin and nail problems and generally helping keep people comfortable and on their feet.

My NHS work over the past two decades has provided me with extensive experience of all aspects of podiatry; in recent times my NHS work involves specialising in high risk wound care which is an area I find fascinating however, I love balancing this out with my work here at the Heeler centre.

When are you available at The Heeler Centre?

Thursday: 1.30pm - 6.00pm

Do you accept insurance work?

No

I graduated from Oxford Brookes University in 2013 and upon graduating I was fortunate to be offered a job in Singapore and I spent over 7 years working as an Osteopath in Asia.

I was based at multi-disciplinary clinics in the central business districts of Singapore and Hong Kong. I also spent a few months working at an Ayurvedic wellness resort in Sri Lanka.

I returned to Ireland in 2021 and have been working in a very busy Osteopathic clinic in the south east of Ireland but have since decided I want to settle in Sussex.

I graduated in 2001 as a Sports Rehabilitation Therapist and spent 12 years working in London within both private clinics and the NHS where I specialised in lower limb orthopaedics as well as falls prevention programmes for the over 65’s.

I am passionate about sports and have worked with semi-professional football clubs, boxing clubs and running clubs.

As a qualified Pilates mat work instructor, I use Pilates exercises and principles as a tool within the rehabilitation programmes. I recently became a Holistic Health & Wellness & Nutrition Coach.

Outside of work I love to travel, exploring different cultures and cuisines. When I’m not travelling I spend my time in the boxing gym, hiking and on the yoga mat.

I qualified as a Homeopath in 1998, following a three-year full-time training course at The London College of Classical Homeopathy (LCCH). Two years later I graduated from the Dynamis School for Advanced Homeopathic Studies and have been in practice for the last 20 years.

I also work at Helios Homeopathic Pharmacy in Tunbridge Wells one day per week, preparing remedies and advising the public about homeopathic treatment for a wide range of acute ailments.

Prior to discovering homeopathy, I obtained a degree in Chinese language and culture at the University of London, and spent a total of five years studying and working in Beijing.

It was in China that I first developed an interest in the holistic approach to healthcare, and on my return to the UK I was drawn to study homeopathy when it had a dramatic impact on my own health. I was in my late twenties, searching for a new and more meaningful career than the unfulfilling work in corporate environments that I had known up to that point when I injured my Achilles tendon badly and was virtually unable to walk for a short time. It was a major setback, as hiking was my big passion. I had physiotherapy which helped, but my healing was slow.

That was when I went to see a homeopath. I found the consultation itself very therapeutic, even before taking any remedies.

Becky has recently completed a 4 year osteopathy degree having also won an award for her dissertation!

Despite having an interest across all aspects of osteopathy, during her studies gained a particular interest in women’s health.

I’ve also always had a keen interest in sports, especially football, where I have competed at county level here in Sussex and currently captain my university football team. Following a series of knee injuries in my teens, I was fascinated by the treatments I received through osteopaths with massage.

My passion for manual therapy has grown throughout and I love connecting with patients and having a positive influence on their quality of life, as well as adding to my own life experience.

I’m at The Heeler Centre, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday afternoons and Saturday mornings and as well as osteopathy can also offer deep tissue massage.

Having spent all my childhood dancing, ballet mainly, I was plagued with injuries to my feet. So, having had regular sports and physiotherapy, I decided to retire the dancing idea and retrain in sports therapy.

While studying at The University of Chichester, I was fortunate to be offered a job while on placement at Brighton & Hove Albion FC. I continued working there after graduating. In 2012 I bit the bullet left the football club and joined The Heeler Centre Team.

However I wasn’t ready to completely give up on working in team sports, so I joined Haywards Heath Rugby FC as clinical lead for 3 seasons. In 2017 I was prepared to stop standing on the sidelines and now treat at The Heeler Centre 6 days a week.
